The marlin 5 is pretty good and sometimes I take it for just fun but like someone else said you are in the basic class of bike. Be prepared to do a few time up/adjustment to derailleur and chain. She paid 415$( Canadian dollars). If you do real Mountain biking upgrades the pedals right in the beginning. Ride the shit of the tires this season and upgraded it soon or next season.
If you're buying from an LBS asked for a demo/2017/2018/ bike and ride the shit out of it. If you do millage you'll ended up changing parts/upgrade it anyway
