This is SUV citydweller logic.
The reason why SUVs are the most popular kind of car, for city dwellers, is that they justify the size by some rare outdoorsy mythos, just like you are doing. The reality is, the offensively large, dangerous, inefficient SUV is almost entirely driven in the city.
It's highly unlikely that the outdoor activities you do require anything more than a small hatchback with a towbar for a bike rack, which is what you should own.
People who actually require large 4WD, should have them, but almost -everyone- thinks that's them, and it's delusional.
