>>1475115>Am I supposed to completely solve factory lubricants from a chain?Nope, new chains are ready to go as soon as you take them out of the packaging. All you need to do is size it and remove the appriate number of links for your bike then install. Then leave it alone til it starts making noise, at which case apply lube, let it sit 10 minutes, then wipe it down (you don't want any lube left on the outside of the chain, that just attracts dirt, you just let it sit 10 minutes to sink into the internals), then you're good to go, and repeat the process every time it starts making noise. But the factory grease is good, so when the chain is new you don't need to degrease or lube. It's likely better than aftermarket lube anyway because the grease is applied during chain assembly so it is deeply embedded in the internals, whereas applying aftermarket lube it may not work its way in quite that deeply.
I NEVER soak a chain, and the only use solvent has is if it's really dirty, use a rag soaked in solvent to wipe it down (after which case you should let it dry, then apply lube, then let sit 10 min, then wipe down with clean dry cloth)
