I want to do a cheeky little build with my old xc beater bike. I'm gonna go for drop bars and want to replace this rusty ass Suntour xcm fork with a rigid steel fork.
Finding the correct fork has been a headache so far though. The current fork length measurement (crown to axle) seems to be 52 cm.
Could I get away with fitting a rigid fork with a length of 468 mm, or would I run into problems with a 5 cm shorter front end?
Also, how do I find out if my current fork has a tapered steering tube or not and what kind of compatibility headaches will I run into if i just buy a straight steering tube. (Are there any adaptors or such?)
