the bikes from 1994 and earlier have a tiny pulley under the stem for routing the front brake cable, made brake adjustments fun and frayed the cable a little
1995 bikes come with old 1992 style Sram twist shift, they are ok I guess, need lots of lucubration and careful cable routing, but they are better than the china clones that came later
shimano revoshift has a good action, but the caseing is a little fragile to impact damage
