In 1990, while freight rail in NSW was still government operated, FreightRail/FreightCorp was created to prepare operations for its eventual privatisation which occurred in 2002. A train led by 86 class locomotives is seen here passing through Broadmeadow yard near Newcastle in the 1990s. Privitisation would eventually lead to the demise of electric freight operations in NSW.
