snow expected tonight, so the roads are caked in salt. i drove up to the MUP for a cruise. got clotheslined by a little terrier on one of those extendable leashes like 10 seconds after the lady looked over her shoulder and saw me coming. then i came to a section of the trail that they had salted (wtf) and it was big chunky pointy salt. flatted. my saddlepack is due to arrive tomorrow, but i gambled on a long ride without one because of the snow in the forecast. i had to walk 12 miles back to my car in the cold (i was dressed for a ride, not a walk.) made it back just as the sun was setting.
pro tip: don't run gravelking slicks with tubes. they might be okay tubeless, but they're so thin and fragile i had more flats this year than the past 5 put together.
