>>1296040They're now building a second suburban tram subsystem. The first was the Glattalbahn to the northeast, reaching all the way to the airport. This system is technically part of the main tram network, but it's focused on local transport in that area, rather than toward the city center. However you can actually take a tram from the airport to the city center, although it takes much longer than the train.
This new line is the Limmattalbahn, and will run to the northwest. It will be one trunk line, the inner part of which will be covered by a line that runs to the city center, and a new line will run from a train station in the outskirts to the end of the line. At one point it will share tracks with the Dietikon-Bremgarten narrow gauge train line for a short stretch, which runs on the street in Dietikon.
