Before the 74 aircraft that got into overspeed conditions might not even be able to pull out because of locked flight controls, something called jet upset. The 707 and DC-8 had cable driven primary flight controls. Just because something looks the same doesnt mean it IS the same.
Cars still are 4 wheels and a box does that make modern cars "barely" better than cars of the 60s?
