>>1677145A lot of old road bikes for the US market had 27" wheels, usually with fairly wide rims to take a 27x1 1/4 tire, since foreign bike makers assumed that all Americans were fat and American roads were third world tier. I and a lot of other people with these old bikes convert them to 700c because the old 27" wheels were usually pretty shit, and only a few tires are still made for 27". When you convert from 27 to 700 you get massive tire clearance which is pretty cool. Pic rel is how much clearance i have left with a 32c tire, it's absolutely huge
