Recreational road and trail use. Basically it will be my only bike that I take with me when I travel and ride through towns, national parks etc. Some of the trails I've been on have been fairly gnarly but not extreme.

I want to keep it at or below $1300 for a new bike. Maybe more if there's a good reason.
There's a Trek store nearby that I was going to check out soon. Seems like a Roscoe or X-Caliber might be a good fit.
I should probably mention that I'm pretty heavy right now. 200lbs. I'm working on it but I doubt I'll go below 180.
