One time on tour, I had a bearing flake off, and serviced my square taper bb with a farmer's tools (pair of channellocks and a nail set). Yes, the pliers chewed up the lock ring, but I didn't ruin the cup. Just ran a ball down until I made it to a town with a shop.
Inb4 "What a fuckin larp, how'd you get the cranks off".... TL-FC10 and the same pair of pliers.
