I've had a KSP-tier idea lying around in my head for a concept for putting a heavily modified Q400 on giant floats, both for passenger service and for maritime search and rescue, and possibly U.S Navy service.
I can see a small but solid niche for such an aircraft that twin-otters can't fill. It would obviously need uprated engines modified for sea spray resistance. I'm unsure if a pressurized transport has ever been fitted with floats before so I'm unsure how that would affect the structural integrity.
