Distance+time to checkpoint to get actual ground speed, and then ground speed and distance to time to next checkpoint/destination.
And also use time to find fuel burn/remaining
Know how to apply drift correction.
But overall, just have fun.
Bring a bottle of water, and sip on it every now and then. It really helps you to focus.
If you're allowed by your school/instructor, actually land and taxi back instead of touch and go's. Take five minutes on the ramp if it's close to catch your breath, have some water, stretch your arms, and then continue on. And sure to allow for that on your flight plan total time. (~ 7-10 min each stop)
You can ask your instructor to take the helm for a little if you feel overwhelmed.
One last thing; on my second solo cross country I landed a 172 in a direct 12kt+ gusting crosswind.. Don't me like me. I should have done a low and over.
