I'm seeing trends that no operator wants quadjets anymore; Airbus officially suspended A380 production for 2021 onward and the 747-8 will likely meet a similar fate sometime around 2028. Having one less engine to run could reducing operating costs tremendously, but having the #2 engine buried in an S-duct would make maintenance a bitch.
