The Ceneri Base Tunnel (newly built in Switzerland) cost $2 billion for 10 miles of tunnel - including two bores with HSR-capable track. The Uinta Basin Railway is meant to be a single-track freight railroad.
Lots of nonsense like this. If they're going to undertake these projects I'd prefer they didn't take up the entire budget for the department of transportation to do it.
