>>1774489It's cotton, unlike synthetic fibres it's naturally breathable, it can get soaked through with rain water and sweat etc but it dries out really quickly, you can wash it on the bars and a couple of hours out in the sunshine or in a heated hallway will dry it out, it would only smell if you never cleaned it, but never as bad as synthetic fibres. Also it ages gracefully, it never looks shit until it actually starts to fall apart but even then it could be described as characterful, if you've seen that famous pic of Jacquie Phelan you'll know what I mean.
Plus it's just not consoomer, you can ride for years with other riders and never see anyone else who uses it, it's not something people think about. They go on ebay or amazon and buy whatever has the most stars, this is something of a forgotten piece cycling folklore or wisdom, washed away by the tsunami of plastic consoomer shite.
