We have shit tier public transportation that completely halts in Saturdays because of religious Jews (they don't allow public transportation anywhere in the country, only recently some city mayors started to ignore them and allow buses on Saturday). This forces many people to buy cars, otherwise you are stranded for almost two days of the week. Our rail system is old and overburdened, and only recently there are works to make trains electric. There are NO subways anywhere. All soldiers use the bus to commute to their base, twice every week. Israeli soldiers serve 3 years, so they get a leave to their home once a week. This means Sundays and Thursday-Fridays are a nightmare to commute on buses.
Cycling trails are worse than NYC and many cyclists and electric scooter drivers die from accidents.
Most people are content with this, as long as they know the Arabs suffer more than them. They keep voting for the same corrupt nationalist party that wastes money on West Bank settlers, Ultra Orthodox schools, and pensions for our bloated military.
The Tel Aviv area being surrounded by the West Bank makes all of this even worse. Israel is shaped like a bottleneck in it's center, making congestions worse.
