>>1976843im definitely not pulling the bars but maybe my reach is too long and my weight it too much on my hands, i have a shorter stem i can try but i think itl feel too twitchy with narrow bars
il try it just to see if reach is in fact the issue though it is a modern hybrid with "progressive" geo so its definitely not a short bike thats for sure but not long either
the upper back pain thing is common with modern mtbs and any modern flat bar bikes rly and their unnecessarily wide bars especially if you have narrow shoulders like me
too wide and your shoulder blades get compressed together and the wrong muscles get used to support your upper body
like imagine doing a press up or pull up with your hands too far apart
not posting the rider but heres the bike before i modified it
i didnt really measure a length i just did it by what felt about right but maybe the problem is i went too narrow for flat bars?
the goal was also to give me more breathing room when squeezing between cars so i went about as narrow as i could
i took a good 2 or 3 inches off either end
dont have a good pic of what it looks like now where the bar width is easily visible but i can take one if youre curious
ive been riding with the very narrow bars for quite a while now though and felt comfe
but maybe its like carpel tunnel where it takes a while for the strain to become noticeable
idk
desu i think im just gonna start stretching more and not keeping my hands in one position for too long thatl probably solve it
not like im in pain or anything im just spooked by a feeling ive never felt before and ive seen alot of videos of mtb'ers crashing because of arm pump but im probably over reacting to something minor as i tend to do
