You shouldn't be mad about LA urbanizing, there's a huge demand for new housing, it's expensive because people want to live there and there's a huge shortage of housing in LA. Building new housing makes it cheaper.
LA just has deep infrastructural/design issues from years of car-focused planning (and politicking from city council) and it will be years before they're really fixed. I think it's on the right path though.
