>>2017733my experience living in Manhattan
>wake up at 4am to garbage trucks>go back to sleep>6am rolls around, cacophany of horns from rush hour traffic begins>continues until around 8pm >Get ready for work in my 1 bedroom, 500sqft apartment that costs over 3k per month>Head down 4 flights of stairs (walkup), have to push past a crowd of people lined up in-front of my building for the current thing>head to the Subway >usual homeless schizo covered in shit is sitting on his bench yelling at people> get on line to board the train (yes this was real pre-covid)>after about 2 trains go by, manage to squeeze on>push through crowds of people to get to the stairs and leave the station>sit in office cube for 8 hours and repeat in the evening.Moved to the burbs. I have a house for what I was paying for a 1 bed apartment. I need a car to get around which is nice, keeps undesirables out of the neighborhood. I don't have to deal with homeless schizos all the time. There is traffic on my commute but sitting in my comfy car is 100x better than picrel. Being able to shop at big box stores saves a ton of money. Grocery stores in NYC are total ripoffs, plus I don't have to carry my groceries home. Now that I'm older I don't have a desire to go to out and party as much so that's a non-issue.
