>>1590906>can anyone explain these meme extremely flared drops that people are using on gravel bikes recently? doesn't that just kill all the aerodynamic advantage of using drops? The industry left the "rational design decisions" route back when marketing tried to force ""gravel"" bikes to be an actual thing. Gravel is a lot more about the unracer and bikepacking lifestyle behind it than actual bike construction.
And you are right, that bike would be a better with straight bars.
I can't wait until the new rigid steel MTB with straight bars meme will kick out the gravel meme.
People who own and ride a road bike, cyclocross bike and suspension MTB are laughing their ass off about this marketing bullshit. But thats how you make money right now in the bike market (outside of e-bikes), so everyone jumps on the wagon.
