>>1665987>assume the manufacturer has selected parts that will work well togetherThe manufacturer, the seller, and everyone in-between is trying to rip you off for the latest meme that you don't need. That's what you should assume
>if you build for yourself you will have a lot of guess work, because you won't know until you actually ride ittf you on about? Once you have a frame with geometry that suits your needs you should already know what components you have to fill it up with, there is no guesswork involved. The groupsets nowadays come from a couple of big manufacturers and each category has entry, middle and high end stuff(which is exactly like cpus and gpus). Same goes for the other components like hubs, forks, stem, etc. The whole process is pretty much painless if you just spend 30 min and research your shit
>With a PC you don't even need to read the manual since there is only one way things go together most of the timeIt's pretty much the same shit with bike parts, retardo. There are very few things that you can actually "install wrong", especially with modern bike component.
>You're missing the pointNo, you're missing the point. Pre assembled bike are only marginally cheaper but in exchange are souls and you get no satisfaction or experience out of doing all that yourself
>>1665993By purchasing parts I can chose what to buy, where to cheap out, where to go second hand, etc. I have full control over what I'm putting in my bike and on what I'm spending money on. Of all the prebuild bikes I had, there was absolutely none that I didn't had to change parts on in order to make it how I like them. That shit never happens with custom builds
