Sup, kolego.
There is currently a plan to try to restore the track back to Żabie Doły, but it depends on sponsorship - if they get it, they can apply for EU stipend. If not, they're fucked, since there is no way they can pay on their own few millions to get the other half from EU.
For everyone else - the red is what the system used to be, the black is what's left of it (in total, slightly below 50 km, or 30 miles).
Biggest issue this whole system faced in the 90s was junk thieves, who literally stripped it apart while it was technically still operational and when caught, got released by prosecution, since their "felony" (and definitely not crime) was "of low criminal value", while most of cities throght which it goes decided that nah, who cares, let's people steal the whole fucking infrastructure.... and by mid-00s start crying why there is nothing left out of the whole system. It's most notable in case of the line between Bytom and Siemianowice, as it was still operational in 2002... when the idiots running Siemianowice decided that nope, they don't care. So when by 2003 the citizenship initiative started chasing thieves with clubs and restored the tourist line back into operation, there was no rail to Siemianowice by that point.
Jesus, why my region went through the 90s like a fucking war happend, at least as far as decisions regarding railroad are concerned?
