In this pic, a 6-years-old cateye velo 5 odometer in the stem. The odometer worked, fine but plastic shit were fucked up at all and the electric contact points too.
The "thing" in which the cateye was mounted was fucked up (just plastic). And the electric contacts between the cateye and "that thing" there fucked up too (the metal points never pop out when pressed). So i welded the cables directly to the electric contact points of the cateye and put a connector in the middle of the cable in order to unmount when required. After that i took a plastic ring and filed down in order to perfect the fitting between stem and plastic ring, and between plastic ring and cateye with welded cables. Finally a piece of tuve rubber to avoid slipping and a red plastic clamp as you see. I cared to do the welding in the way you still can remove battery with fucking up the welding and even mounted rear setting button is easy to access.
There are a lot of other things like this in my bike.
