touching up the paint isn't very hard either. Just sand rust spots, clean with wax & grease remover, and coat with rust converter (dries to a black primer) then paint, spray or brush with a rattle can, hobby paint, even nail polish lol. It won't blend that well but it honestly adds charm on a beater and it will seal it well.
rust on the inside is the bigger issue than surface rust though imo
