>>1715403This may sound stupid, but as an owner of both an aggressive road bike and a beater 2000s bso, I've noticed that I cannot ride my road bike unaggressively - I can't help but ride as fast as I possibly can, putting great effort into it, maybe because the feeling of going at great speed is addicting to me. At the same time, my bso doesn't give me the same rush and I ride it slower, without such effort.
And in terms of comfort and efficiency, I'm pretty sure I don't see much of a difference - both are rigid hi-ten steel, one weighs 11,5kg, the other - 14,5kg, one has 25mm slicks, the other - 1,85" dirt tires. They're both wiggly and a little rough, I guess both are somewhat inefficient and not particularly comfortable, which I don't really care about, but after my morning commute on my road bike I can't really focus on my work and feel tired, but after the same commute on my bso focusing on work is much simpler and I don't feel tired at all.
Maybe it's all just perception and psychology.
