SDS Hansteen left today for a 4 day trip around trondheimsfjord. I am sadly not onboard, but I am busy with finding ways to find funds anyway.
We went on several trips already and everyone was happy, the machine works and if it has hickups, it is easy to blow the steam out, take apart, fix and reassemble while the boiler is still hot. Incredibly reliable machines those steam engines.
in other news, as people come onboard, there are adrenalin boling discoveries. An old man came onboard saying that his grandfather served onboard during the original task period (mapmaking of the most important fishing areas of norway) somewhere in 1880s. This might seem trivial, but we now have almost direct link with the original crew and while this is just a notion in the old mans diary, we now know about first crewman that was not the captain. We know his name and cca when did he serve for those 6 years. We dont know what was his role, but it is an incredible clue that might lead us further, even to orther crewmembers and in my wet dreams to some more photos of the ship, giving us the chance to rebuilt even more of the equipement and superstructure (profile pictures and photos of people onboard give you clear view of the details behind the person, not just the person himself)
