Yeah, the small tenders were so they could fit onto existing turntables.

I don't know about horsepower, but tractive effort was 176,600 when operating simple/starting mode. (The only steamer to exceed that was the VGN triplex but that was a piece of shit anyway). The 2-10-10-2s also had the fattest boiler of any steam loco, 118".

The triplexes sucked, and couldn't hold steam. They're just a 2-8-8-0 with an extra engine under the tender. The VGN 800s could actually do their jobs well enough to last for decades, and still had the widest LP cylinders on any locomotive, and the widest boiler too.
