The bar tape should be find but I won't know until I ride it tomorrow. Most of the time my hands are on the hood anyway, and I've been riding it without tape since I built it two weeks ago.
It might be going from a steel bike with a longer chainstay to this but the acceleration feels snappier, I assume part of that is the newer crank. But I still do road rides on the square taper one (just not A group).
