Hell if you're a flatlander looking to just zoom along, do you care about sprinting power? You could even just buy a nice classic bike with a quill stem if you want steel. That opens up way more options and brings the budget down. In a line with nice wheels/tires it will be just as fast, only suffer out of the saddle trying to throw it around because not as stiff at the front
