NYC still has most of its high-rise projects. They’re in fairly good condition and no more violent than low and mid-rise projects.
Compare that to projects like Cabrini-Green in Chicago and Pruitt-Igoe in St. Louis, which instantly became Afghanistan tier warzones. Symbols of urban horror. Every other US city has demolished its highrise public housing and built low/mid rise in its place, and crime in those neighborhoods has gone down significantly as a result.
But in NYC, the high rise projects were never significantly worse than the others. Why?
