It's not that it's too big for you, it's that it's race bike geometry and you're meant to ride it in a more aero position than you probably want to.
The question is, can you reduce the reach and or bar drop without compromising the handling. It really depends but it's worth trying.
This might be affected by camera angles but in the pic it looks basically bang on now. Middle of hoods directly over axle normally gives best handling on a road bike. But most road bikes will still ride quite well a bit back. You just definitely wouldn't want to reach the headtube but there's a lot of middle ground.
The easiest thing would be getting a shorter stem, maybe with a steeper positive angle, but you also might prefer more modern style compact drops which have less reach than older bars like those.
I'd also suggest you work on your core strength, look up core strength routines for cyclists, or just do planks. And when you're riding focus on putting even smooth efforts in, not tensing up your upper body, not throwing the front end of the bike around, and keeping a higher cadence and not running out of power in big gears. Be smooth.
