You can call freeways a good investment because it creates jobs, opportunity, trade route, logistics route etc.
Yet at no point did the road itself make ANY money. That's because the government acts as an intermediary and broadens the economic scope of infrastructure. Invest here, reap there.
So, truly, genuinely, in good faith so help me God, why do you insist on treating rail differently?
