wide ratio gearing whist maintaining a straighter chain line
2x and 1x chains have to bend further more often so tend to wear quickly
you'll have to git good at changing and adjusting gears, but ultimately you have more ratios to choose from
mostly triples were made for touring bikes and for other situations with great variation in terrain
if you are only planning to ride on particular terrain you may not need so many gears but you have to pick a narrow area of performance
