indoor cycling doesn’t work. there’s nothing stopping you from hopping off the bike at any moment when it gets hard and your brain knows it. you simply cannot replace the finality of being miles away from your home and having no choice but to nut up and quit being a bitch when you’re struggling because your only way home is to power through the hardship. it’s really one of the largest parts of why cycling is so rewarding and feels so good physically and mentally; you generally have little choice but to persevere and your struggles are rewarded with good brain chemicals. you just cannot get the same thing on an indoor trainer when your brain knows you can just hop off at any moment when they going gets tough
