Plus, I don't know how well modern passenger cars would hold up against the forces exerted by distributed power/rear helper locos, the weight of the freight train, and braking forces. There's a reason why you would often see cabooses moved to the behind of an end of train helper locomotive instead of just having the locomotive push up against the caboose. This might cause derailments, or in a worst case scenario a crushed car and passengers.
