2) never buy chinkshit or walmart shit ever except maybe for accessories
3) anything at least 18/24 spoke count is fine if the wheels are from a good brand and you weigh under 300 pounds
4) wider tires will improve traction a bit and absorb big hits better that could cause stress on the wheels but other than that don't matter much for safety
5) carbon isn't weaker than aluminum under normal use, but it's more likely to be damaged with abuse. Worse, the damage is more likely to be invisible (without an expensive ultrasound scan) until the part explodes under you. Bikes with cables routed internally through the steerer are especially risky.
6) make sure your fit is reasonable so you can stay in control, in particular don't jam the seat forward so all your weight's on the front end
7) inspect regularly for damage and keep on top of maintenance
8) don't ride like a retard and look where you're going
