I know many people who were injured riding fixies in the city. They aren't safe for most users. The danger is part of the appeal to masculinity, like a motorcycle. It's stupid. "Being connected to you bike" and having a very efficient drivetrain it's fun and should be enjoyed safely by old bike nerds like sheldon who know a lot about safety and can ride with extreme precision. It's very stupid too have 22 year olds who just started drinking heavily dodging taxis in NYC at 3AM in the rain on a bike without fucking brakes!!! Stuipd shit
