>>1459997The closest active rail station to me would be the Branch Avenue WMATA station in Suitland, Maryland. It's a decent station and parking is free on weekends, so I can hop onto the Metro and enjoy DC and NOVA in my free time. It's on the Green Line, so you have to deal with drunks and obnoxious assholes, but they're harmless.
However, the county where I live in technically had a few active railroads that connected to both Baltimore and DC that were decommissioned by the 50s. One of the stations still exists as a museum and the rail line is active as an industrial line. The station is probably the size of a large shed, and really isn't impressive, but the surrounding town wouldn't exist without it.
