in the 10 speed era you had 11-25 or 11-28 cassettes as std, and with 11 speed it went to 11-28 and 11-32 and now with the new DA and ultegra, the std cassettes are 11-30 and 11-34
This is a fantastic change for ordinary road cyclists. Deconstructing the need for people to smash a huge gear they don't even vaguely have the watts for up climbs and destroy their knees because it's 'manly', or otherwise, not really climb at all, shows that shimano actually listens to discourse around toxic masculinity, and is trying to rid cycling of it, for the better of all.
