There is no difference between riding on flats and riding a flat bar bike.
The thing with drop-bar bikes in a variety of hand positions keeps you comfy because you're not locked in anywhere. I'm going to see more cool shit than you because I'm able to go further, and, because road bikes are generally lighter, I shouldn't even have an issue throwing that shit in a car or taking it on a train or something.
I rode by buddies bike for him to drop it off one place or the other, an MTB, and I was just pissed that in the extreme headwind, all I could do to deal with it is just duck my head a bit. No other real hand position.
I had this exact bike in green and I loved that bitch and road her all over, but I can't imagine myself doing the riding I am now on something like that. It's too heavy, it's not as nimble, and I just wouldn't be comfortable taking it anywhere near the traffic I do these days. Just thinking about cornering on this thing makes me wanna piss a bit.
Wish I still had her for a rainbike, I guess, but her hub was fucked beyond repair and my parents tossed it when I moved out.
