Because this is one of problems in US transportation - huge as fuck streets making longer distances (affecting walkability and public transport), lowering tax income per maintained area (new asphalt, snow plowing, water pipes) and so on.

Also that building setback offered in website is stupid. There should be also building with no front "garden".
