Trains run every 30 minutes between Helsinki and Riihimäki, but the Riihimäki to Hämeenlinna/Tampere is unbelievably shitty with only just 10 trains a day. Also the Riihimäki-Hämeenlinna/Tampere section is driven by one unit trains that are at always packed.
The trains are very comfy and quiet to ride, but the 2+3 layout, no power outlets and few bike racks are shit.
At rush hours often there aren't even space to stand and the station announcement system is broken on some units meaning there's this frustrating pitch sound from the speakers.
I'd suggest trains every 20 minutes at rush hours and refurbishment on the trains, but the track network in Southern Finland is packed with other trains and VR isn't planning to refurbish any trains because the state decided to privatize the system into UK like franchise routes.
