they handle completely different.
steering it self is handled completely different.
a road bike with drops is steered with you core,
the rider is kinda flexing like a snake.
anything with a short stem and wide grips is steered with your arms, kinda like a steering wheel.
both have their use cases.
I perefere the latter for harsh terrain, like the upper end of gravel cycling.
I'm a strong advocate for short stems and wide, high dropbars with lots of flare.
Atleast for the kind of riding I like to do.
also 42 - 2.0 tires with a good casing and appropriate pressure will give you all the suspension you'll need
