I really want to get into gravel racing this year and the gravel bike I have weighs 33 lbs. Changing out wheels and components might get me down to 28, but no less. What about the Specialized Diverge E5? Could I race on it? It's 22 lbs out of the box and has a double chainring which I insist on, but a couple of things worry me: is the Claris groupset going to be reliable? And is 50/34 with 11-34 in the back going to go sufficiently low for those really steep hills I could encounter on a trail?
It seems like serious gravel bikes start at $3000 so I want to make this work.
