Found the cause of my studded tire flats / blowouts last week. There was a manufacturing defect in the tire where there are a few extra pieces of bead wire not part of the bead itself. Since they weren't connected the managed to wiggle themselves loose and break free into the inside of the tire. There was a 2" long piece of wire protruding into the tire when I check this morning.
Doing a search I found multiple instances of people having similar bead issues with Schwalbe Marathon tires several years ago.
