>>1713487Holding down the levers isn't necessarily what's causing soreness/fatigue, it's more the repeated actions of pressing down the levers hundreds or thousands of times in a long technical descent. Hydraulic brakes are known to be softer to pull compared to cables, and apparently offer other advantages like more modulation.
Tbh my cantilevers brakes probably weren't perfectly adjusted anymore on the long descent I did since I was on a bikepacking trip, so there's that. But that's also an other good point about hydrau': they're self adjusting and low maintenance. I don't know if it's me or my cantilevers that are shitty/worn but I find them to be a pain in the ass to properly adjust. I'm planning on doing long touring/bikepacking trips and don't want to have to mess with that shit.
