VP-500s are pretty great but their grip surface goes to shit in the rain.
the pins work well but 24 set screws from Home Depot was actually pretty close to a chinkshit pair of pin flats and the holes along the spindle went part way into the internal steel and made the job much more of a pita with a cordless drill. would recommend buying new pedals over my not-very-well-thought-out conversion idea. but they work great in the wet now, at least.
