I live right by the paulina brown line stop and it's a pretty great area to live in if you're in the city. There's a gym that's $10/mo a block away, a whole foods/jewel/trader joes for groceries within a 10 min walk, close to the highway if you're driving, and you're next to the brownline which is, by far, the cleanest/safest train on the CTA. Rent is pretty high comparatively but you can find a 2-bed in a walkup for around 2k/mo. Obviously newer construction is going to cost you more.
Lots of nice restaurants here too. You're also one stop away from the Southport Corridor - where my last place was - and there's a lot of great shopping/restaurants there too.
